Assistant Chief Robert Chabali

Lt. Col. Robert Chabali, Assistant Chief and Deputy Director of Police, oversees the SWAT and Hostage Negotiation Team, as well as fiscal, budget and payroll operations of the department. One of Assistant Chief Chabali's responsibilities is to ensure that Dayton Police personnel serve thecommunity efficiently and within the parameters of the department's written policies. 

Assistant Chief Chabali joined the Police Department in 1978. He has served as commander of the East Patrol Operations Division and as Third District Commander, and was the long-time Commander of the Dayton SWAT Team.  Lt. Col. Chabali is a graduate of the Police Executive Leadership College, has a bachelor’s degree in Law Enforcement from The Ohio State University and serves on the board of directors of the National Tactical Officers Association.
