The Division of Support Services and Resource Management (SSRM) is under the supervision of Assistant Chief Paul Sheehan
The Division of SSRM includes virtually all support functions that are necessary for the effective operation of the Dayton Fire Department. Those functions include the complete maintenance and repair of 12 Fire Stations, the Fire Training Center, and the Fire Garage. Building Maintenance is also responsible for the annual allocation of Facilities Improvements Capital Funding which is provided outside of the operating budget and follows its own Capital Improvement Plan (CIP).
SSRM includes the Fire Department's Fleet Garage or Dayton Emergency Vehicle Services (DEVS). DEVS maintains over 100 fire apparatus and passenger vehicles for the Dayton Fire Department. It also performs maintenance and repairs for 23 other fire departments in the region. They also perform repairs for entities such as Sinclair Community College's Fire Science program, the Dayton Chapter of the American Red Cross, Ohio Task Force 1, Box 21, and the University of Dayton's student-staffed EMT-B program.
Also included in SSRM are Special Equipment Repair and Fire Station Supply. A technician performs repairs to Self Contained Breathing Apparatus (SCBA), Gas Monitors, Fire Hose, Pneumatic Hydrant Testers, Helmets, and performs any specialized machining required. The supplies specialist ensures that all of the Fire Station needs are met with office supplies, cleaning supplies, and EMS supplies.
The Division of SSRM also includes management of the DFD Administration. This facet of DFD operations include payroll, procurement, AP/AR, grants management, and many other administrative functions that support the Dayton Fire Department.
