Community Services Division
The Community Services Division contains the Training Bureau, Community Engagement Unit, and Neighborhood Assistance Officers. The Community Engagement Unit will include recruiting, the training and community engagement coordinator, the officer who teaches Criminal Justice classes at the David H. Ponitz Career Technology Center in the Dayton Public Schools system, and the community engagement officers. Combining these resources allows for a more strategic focus on community engagement, employee development, and minority/female recruiting efforts. The Community Services Division is the primary liaison between the Police Department and the City of Dayton Community Engagement Division and Civil Service.
-
Investigations Division
The Investigations Division is home to most of the department’s detectives. This allows for increased communication within the investigative units. It will also ensure the progression and professional development of detectives from working on property crimes to violent crimes against persons.
-
Operations Support Division
The Operations Support Division is responsible for the Strategic Response, Traffic Services, and Community Response Units, which address specific crime and traffic issues. Additionally, this division has administrative oversight of our specialized units to ensure that all training, policies, and procedures are tracked and are in line with best practices. The Operations Support Division also works with the Dayton Mediation Center and the Montgomery County Alcohol Drug and Mental Health Services (ADAMHS) in relation to their respective alternative response programs.
-
Patrol Operations Division
The Patrol Operations Division encompasses uniform personnel responsible for calls for service. Patrol personnel are focused on promptly responding to calls for service, and beat responsibility, in order to be responsive to our community. There are three patrol districts across the city: East District, Central Business District, and West District.

Professional Standards Bureau
