Proclamations, Greetings and Weddings
PROCLAMATION AND GREETING REQUESTS
The Mayor issues Proclamations designating an honorary day to commemorate major events, conferences and lifetime achievements. The Mayor and/or Commissioners issue Greetings for birthdays, anniversaries, retirements, special occasions and other major award designations. The City does not issue a Proclamation and Greeting for the same event.
Individuals or organizations requesting a Proclamation or Greeting must submit the request at least 10 business days in advance of the date the document is to be picked up or mailed from the Office of the City Commission. Due to the large number of requests we receive, please include the draft language you would like included in the document. Refer to our sample document to help you draft your language. For Proclamations, WHEREAS clauses allow you to highlight special attributes, accomplishments, objectives and needs. However, the Mayor and Commissioners reserve the right to modify the language appropriately. Since the Mayor and Commissioners affix their signatures to these documents, they must have the ability to edit material submitted. Should substantial changes be required, a staff member will call you to discuss the modifications.
After preparation, a staff member will contact you when it is ready to be picked up. You will be asked to check the document for accuracy when you come to the City Commission Office to pick up your request.
WEDDINGS And Domestic Partnerships
Wedding ceremonies officiated by the Mayor are typically scheduled on the fourth Monday of each month. A service fee of $50 is required for any wedding ceremonies performed by the Mayor's Office, and this fee secures the reservation with the Mayor's Office. Wedding fees must be paid by cash, certified check or money order made payable to the City of Dayton.
Domestic Partnership registration can be done by mail or in-person on Monday’s at 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. and Thursdays from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.
