The Dayton Police Department welcomed 10 new police officers when members of the 105th police recruit class were sworn in during a ceremony in August. One Dayton firefighter also completed the Police Academy in order to become an arson investigator.

Members of the 105th police recruit class began their training at the Dayton Police Academy in February 2016 and completed a challenging six-month curriculum. After graduation, each new officer spends 16 weeks with a training officer before beginning solo patrol.
