[ARCHIVED] Capital Improvements, Education Paying Off

An article in the Dayton Daily News chronicles the difference the Water Department is making in residents' wastewater services and experiences.

"Compared to the prior year, overflows were down 68 percent, water intrusions fell 43 percent and stoppages decreased 33 percent [in 2015]."

This improvement in our services comes from two efforts: infrastructure improvements and public education. The Department of Water continues to invest in replacing and updating its aging distribution, wastewater and other public systems as part of its 10-year capital improvement plan.

Education campaigns like "Stop the Grease Monster" and "Wipes Clog Pipes" have increased awareness among residents about the harmful nature of grease and cloth wipes clogging service lines.
