For the second year the City of Dayton, through the Department of Recreation and Youth Services, is supporting families in need by hosting a donation drive. Our three recreation centers are collecting donations of non-perishable food and new or gently used twin-sized blankets for distribution to St. Vincent de Paul, a non-profit serving homeless families and individuals.
Donation barrels are located in recreation center lobbies through December 14 (6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. weekdays, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Saturdays), at these locations:
Greater Dayton Recreation Center, 2021 W. Third St.
Northwest Recreation Center, 1600 Princeton Dr.
Lohrey Recreation Center, 2366 Glenarm Ave.
Donations may also be made at the RYS Administration Office in City Hall, Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
St. Vincent de Paul serves Dayton-area residents who are homeless or on the brink of becoming homeless. The non-profit serves more than 100,000 people yearly through assistance with shelter, food, clothing and other needs. We cannot solve the hunger or homeless crises individually; but, together we make a difference. RYS is asking you to open your hearts and your hands this season to help those in need.
