On Monday, January 9, the Dayton Fire Department welcomed the 2017-A Class of firefighter recruits to the department's Training Center to launch their training program. Over the next 24 weeks, these 21 recruits will exercise their bodies and minds to earn their position as Level 2 State of Ohio firefighters. Each graduating recruit will also have EMT-basic and fire inspector certifications by the end of the course. 

The 2017-A class includes nine recruits who are either veterans or active guard or reserve.
